Products we operate

Comonad Limited develops and operates three products of its own. Our R&D sets how we build them, and running them puts that work into operation.

Proxed.AI

Secure AI API access for iOS apps, without building a backend.

  • Split-key proxy for AI provider keys
  • Requests verified by Apple DeviceCheck
  • Hosted or self-hosted, AGPL-3.0

Proxed.AI is a proxy that lets iOS apps call AI models without shipping full API keys or building a backend, verifying requests with Apple DeviceCheck. The provider key is split between the server and the app and only put back together in memory, so it keeps full AI provider keys off iOS devices.

What it puts into practice: secret handling and request verification for AI calls.

Plop

Stores and normalises inbound email and makes it available through a UI and an API.

  • For operations, workflows and tests
  • Open source under AGPL-3.0
  • Source on GitHub: plop-email/plop

Plop stores and normalises inbound email and makes it available through a UI and an API, for operations, workflows and test automation. Its source is public under AGPL-3.0.

What it puts into practice: reliable ingestion of unstructured input, and structured access to it.

Notiterms

Monitors the published terms of the services you rely on, so the check runs continuously.

  • Alerts compliance and commercial teams
  • Feeds a continuous compliance process
  • Operated by Comonad Limited

Notiterms monitors the published terms of the services an organisation relies on and notifies compliance and commercial teams when those terms change, so the check runs continuously.

What it puts into practice: continuous monitoring that feeds a compliance process, as in AI governance.

What building these products taught us

  • Key and secret handling: keeping credentials out of places they should not be, and verifying the caller.
  • Structured outputs: defining schemas and rejecting what does not conform.
  • Monitoring change: noticing when an input, a provider or a set of terms changes, and routing that to a person.
  • Operating code in public: publishing source under an open licence and maintaining it.

Questions about Comonad's products

Which products does Comonad build and operate?

Comonad Limited develops and operates three products. Proxed.AI gives iOS apps secure access to AI models without shipping full API keys or building a backend. Plop stores and normalises inbound email and exposes it through a UI and an API. Notiterms monitors the published terms of the services an organisation relies on and notifies compliance and commercial teams when they change.

Are Comonad's products open source?

Proxed.AI and Plop are open source under the AGPL-3.0 licence. Proxed.AI's source is at github.com/nech-ai/proxed and Plop's at github.com/plop-email/plop. Notiterms has no public repository. Comonad Limited operates all three products, and Proxed.AI can also be self-hosted by teams that prefer to run it inside their own environment.

Why does Comonad run its own products?

Running products in public keeps our advice tied to systems we are accountable for. Proxed.AI, Plop and Notiterms involve the same problems our clients face: key handling, request verification, structured outputs, ingestion of messy input and monitoring for change. Comonad Limited, the London company founded by Alex Vakhitov, builds and operates all three as the core of its work, alongside its applied R&D.
